Installation Instructions

Please Read the Following:

PQBrowser is installed from a self-executing, compressed, installation program.  PQBrowser uses Microsoft Windows Installer®Microsoft Windows Installer® comes pre-installed with Windows 2000, but does NOT come with Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT.  If you're installing PQBrowser on Windows 95, 98, or NT, the first step in the installation process is to install Microsoft Windows Installer®: This will happen automatically, you don't need to download or do anything, however you will be required to reboot you computer (see Note below).  The installation of PQBrowser will then automatically continue after the computer has been restarted.

1.  Download installation file from the download page.

2.  Save the file to your local hard drive and remember or make note of the location you save the file to.  The file is usually named something similar to PQBrowser.EXE.  Download it to a temporary location or a location such as c:\disks\pqbrowser on your local pc.

3.  After the file has been completely downloaded, use Windows Explorer to locate the file and then double-click on it to run the setup program.  You will see a display like the screen capture shown in Figure 1 below.

4.  If installing on Windows 95, 98, or NT, AND Microsoft Windows Installer® has not previously been installed, then Microsoft Windows Installer® will be installed first (automatically) and a reboot will be required (See Note Below).

5.  Follow the prompts during the installation of PQBrowser to choose the installation location, agree to the license agreement, etc.

6.  When finished, some systems will required another reboot.

- NOTES -

NOTE: Issues with Computer Lockups on 95, 98, & NT during Installation.  This applies to the following conditions:

(1) Installing PQBrowser on Windows 95, 98, or NT and

(2) Microsoft Windows Installer® has installed itself because it was not previously installed and

(3) This required a reboot before the installation of PQBrowser can continue.

We have seen instances where the computer locked up after the reboot and displayed a window indicating that Microsoft Windows Installer® was continuing the installation, but nothing ever happens, the computer was locked up.  If this happens to you, simply turn off the computer and restart it.  After the computer has finished booting up, restart the installation by double-clicking on the file you downloaded to install PQBrowser (step #2 above)  - the installation will then continue correctly.
