Clear Cache & History

Most users of Microsoft Internet Explorer think that using the Delete Temporary Files option and/or the Clear History option of Microsoft Internet Explorer clears the Cache and History off of your computer, it does not!  After all, if you open History, it appears empty after using this command and in addition, the URL drop down no longer shows your recently visited Web Sites.  However, the information is there and can be easily accessed by anyone knowing where to look.

PQBrowser will overwrite this information and then delete it form your computer.

What is Cache and History?  As you browse with Microsoft Internet Explorer a cache of information is built.  The cache contains images, page components, etc.  This cache is used to make re-accessing the current page faster, should you return to it.  Likewise, as you browse a History is kept of the sites you've visited.  Because PQBrowser uses the rendering engine or Internet Explorer, this same information is built-up while using PQBrowser.

What are Cookies?  A web site can store information on your PC that's used to control how a site looks, how the site is accessed, or personal information about you.  It stores this information in a small file called a Cookie.  For example, if you use the TVGuide web site, you enter your zip code so that you can access local listings.  This information is stored in a Cookie.  Cookies can contain a wide variety of information, some of the information could be sensitive and personal, especially if you select to save passwords when entering password protected sites.  PQBrowser will wipe and delete this information as well.

What does Wipe mean?  Before PQBrowser deletes a History, Cache, or Cookie file, the file is overwritten with 0's.  You can optionally select to have it overwritten with 10 passes of varying data.  This keeps disk recovery and data recovery utilities from rebuilding and extracting your data.
